Justin Bieber drops 'Love Yourself,' 'The Feeling' ahead of much-anticipated album 'Purpose' this week
Justin Bieber has dropped another new single in the lead up to his fourth studio album “Purpose,” which will be released this Friday, Nov. 13. Update: Check out this comprehensive list of Bieber's 2016 concerts and tour dates.
The new track “Love Yourself” was co-written by Ed Sheeran. Unlike his upbeat electronic dance tracks, “Love Yourself” is a slow ballad with a relaxing electric guitar sound. Bieber had told Ellen DeGeneres that three of his songs on “Purpose” were about Selena Gomez. Hollywoodlife believes the track is a diss to an ex girlfriend.
Bieber sings: “And I didn’t wanna write a song cause I didn’t want anyone thinking I still care/I don’t but, you still hit my phone up/And baby I be movin’ on and I think you should be somethin’/I don’t wanna hold back, maybe you should know that/My mama don’t like you and she likes everyone.”
"The Feeling," featuring Halsey, was also debuted on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show along with "Love Yourself." The singer had previously posted a few seconds of the track in a video on Twitter, which sees three women moving through the forest towards the music.

Recent singles that have already been released by the Canadian superstar have helped rebrand his image from teen pop sensation to a more mature R&B artist with a smooth electronic sound. This is thanks to collaborations with artists such as Skrillex, Diplo and Halsey, who are featured on “Purpose”. The first six tracks that will be on the album are “Mark My Words”, “I’ll Show You”, “What Do You Mean?”, “Sorry”, “Love Yourself” and “Company”. The track list had been promoted through a series of tweets that revealed photos of each song title graffitied in several countries.
The single “Love Yourself” is now available on Itunes and Spotify, and has gone viral thanks to his Beliebers, who have showed their unconditional support through tweets and memes.
According to Christian Post, “Purpose” was originally banned in Indonesia and several Middle Eastern countries because of the album cover’s Christian references. However, another cover which shows the 21-year-old on a cliff was issued in these countries.
To help promote his album, Bieber will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show every day this week.
