From Australia with love. Justin Bieber was a picture of love and compassion as he visited the victims of Super typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. He hugged them, played basketball with them and sang Christmas carols to the victims. He helped them forget the disaster even for a day.

As the “One Time” singer made way to one of the evacuation centers in the ravaged city of Tacloban, Philippines, he was greeted by smiling faces, who just over a month ago never thought they would get out of the sea water, engulfing the region brought by the storm.

The teen heartthrob’s visit came after he launched a worldwide campaign aimed at helping the Filipino victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The campaign earned more than half a million dollars and eternal gratitude from the victims.

During his visit, the “Down to Earth” singer led the distribution of the toys and clothes to the children. He also played basketball with them, danced and sang Christmas carols to the young victims.

According to Mirror UK, the singer declared his Philippine visit “most unforgettable” and “most touching” he had ever done in his life.

"I want to bring as much awareness to the devastated areas as I can. Seeing the suffering first hand and interacting with the community was an experience I will never forget,” quoted Bieber to the Mirror UK.

The teen singer added that he wanted to send a message across to his fans, noting the importance of “involvement” especially the marginalized and the underprivileged, including the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Bieber added, “I came to the Philippines to help my fans understand the importance of involvement on all levels. It’s easy to pledge my commitment to this cause, but it’s staying involved that matters most to me and that is exactly what I plan to do.”

Bieber’s gesture has been equally memorable to the victims of the Super Typhoon Yolanda.

A victim interviewed by local TV station, TV5 asserted that Bieber’s visit certainly helped many forget the destructive calamity.

"It was like we were not hit by the typhoon, like Yolanda never came," The Huffington Post quoted a girl interviewed by TV 5.

The teen singer met with the local officials during his visit. He also visited the UNICEF relief shelter temporarily placed at the City Central School. The pop singer also visited another school, San Jose School where he spent time with around 300 families being sheltered by the institution.

"UNICEF is very pleased that Justin Bieber wanted to visit Tacloban, and stopped by City Central Elementary School which has suffered a great deal of structural damage," Radio Australia said, quoting UNICEF emergency coordinator Angela Kearney in an AFP report.

"Justin brought a lot of joy, hope and cheer to the hundreds of children who were there," noted Kearney.
