Kanye West drops Kim Kardashian’s birthday bash, treats her with $65,000 ruby earrings
Kim Kardashian and her famous family have opted to settle with a low key celebration of her 36th birthday on Friday as Kanye West cancelled the 1920s themed party following her traumatic robbery in Paris.
The 39-year-old rapper had earlier planned a lavish birthday blowout for the mother of his two kids, but Kanye had eventually decided to cancel the party to ensure his family’s security.
Kanye was reportedly hands on in planning the party’s details, including drafting the event menu.
“He had gone all out for Kim’s birthday and it was going to be an all expenses sparred event with champagne and canapés,” an insider told The Sun.
“Now they will do something very low key instead. He’s made sure he will still spoil her with the stunning one-of-a-kind earrings though – as he doesn’t cut corners when it comes to his missus.”
According to the source, Kanye shelled out US$50,000 (AU$65,000) on a pair of Lorraine Schwartz ruby drop earrings, which he helped design as a special gift to the “Keeping With The Kardashians” star.
To recall, Kim lost 13 pieces of valuable jewelries to thieves in France including a Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring valued at US$3.4 million (AU$4.5 million). The robbers’ haul was estimated to be worth US$10 million (AU$14 million). (Read: Kim Kardashian net worth: How the Paris robbery will affect Kim K's fortune)

Kourney admits, Kim is ‘not doing great’
Kim’s assistant, Steph Shep, earlier offered fans assurance of her well being, saying she is “taking some much needed time off.” But Kourtney admitted that Kim is “not doing great.”
“You know, she’s not doing great,” Kourtney admitted in an interview on Today Extra.
“I think we’re all really still shaken up and I just — you know, I think she has a big supportive family and I know that, like, all of the traumatic things that we’ve been through, you know, we get through them together as a family and that’s what family is all about.”
