Kanye West Released Emotional Music Video Of His Song 'Only One' With Daughter North West
Kanye West has released an adorable music video with his daughter North West. The father-daughter duo look engrossed in each other as Kanye croons the heartfelt lyrics from the ballad “Only One.” Kanye collaborated on the song with ex-Beatles--Paul McCartney. The singer released the self-composed song a month back and has now added the music video to it.
“Only One” starts with the rapper standing in a muddy field and singing to himself. He strolls around aimlessly and is then joined by his daughter North West. The toddler does not seem to be aware of the shooting and is engrossed deeply in her father's loving gestures. After walking hand in hand with North, Kanye sings to her and picks her up in his arms.
The video, directed by filmmaker Spike Jonze, does not have any props or back-up dancers but still manages to capture the heart of the viewers by its sheer simplicity. While composing the song, Kanye remembered his late mother Donda West. The initial video collage released for the song had Kanye's pictures with his smiling mother and some of his home videos.
When the song first made its appearance on You Tube, Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian said on Twitter that Kanye felt “his mom sang thru him to our daughter.” “I talked to God about you/ He said he sent you an angel,” go the lyrics of the song. Kanye talks about how his mother sent Nori as an angel to him. Kanye's mother then tells him that she is looking upon him from Heaven and he has her blessings. The song ends with a note that says,"tell Nori about me." Kim and Kanye have nicknamed their daughter as Nori. Read more here.
Kanye premiered the music video of “Only One” on “The Ellen DeGeneres” show on Thursday night. The actor also made a special appearance on the show to wish Ellen on her birthday. The song will appear on Kanye's yet-untitled album. The reality star told Ellen that the new album will be very different from his previous album “Yeezus.” The rapper said he has not yet found the “vibes” to name the album.
