Kanye West's New Album Will Be Called, 'So Help Me God,' Rapper Also Releases Interesting Artwork
Kanye West has revealed the name of his upcoming album and it will be called, “So Help Me God.” The album is reportedly “80 per cent” finished but the “Yeezus” rapper has not announced any release date yet. In an interview with a radio station, the rapper said that the album will be a “surprise” release just like Beyonce's album, “Beyonce” was.
West announced the name of the new album on his Twitter profile along with the artwork of the album. The artwork consists of four letter “m's” written in lower case and given a diamond shape. According to a Reddit user named, “TheQueenOfThe Stars,” West's mysterious artwork is actually a 13th century symbol for the Virgin Mary, largely used in Monasticism. The user added that the symbol also looks inspired by the artwork of the American rock band Marilyn Manson's album, “Lest We Forget: The Best Of.” Check out the picture here.
“So Help Me God” will be a follow-up to his last album “Yeezus” but it will be very different from it. In an interview with radio Power 105 [via Rolling Stone] , West said that his last album was a “protest of music.” "I was like, 'I'm gonna take my ball and go home'… I didn't even have no music,” West is quoted as saying to the radio. “But this album is just embracing the music, embracing joy and just being a service to the people," he added.
Twitter users seemed excited about West's upcoming seventh album. A Twitter user by the handle @tanyasic asked West to “give the release date” of the album soon as she wants to hear “So Help Me God.” Other users too are requesting West to give them more details of the album.
West released a ballad song, “Only One” last month that is based on his memories of his late mother Donda West. The lyrics of the song had West's mother talking about his daughter North West (Nori). The track also featured Paul McCartney. At the 2015 Brit Awards, the 37-year-old rapper also released another track from his upcoming album and it is called "All Day.”
