Stefanovic, a former Rocky WIN Television reporter is now co-host for “The Today” show. He has won over other talented Australian actors and a comedian including Rebecca Gibney, who has been a favorite to bring home the coveted Gold Logie.

The television personality who honed his skills in the industry as a reporter at the age of 20, the 36-year-old host expressed his disbelief for the recognition.

He said: “I've never ever ever in my life as a [journalist] thought that I would be standing up here in front of this crowd in this stage with this thing in my hand”.

The night’s big winner had first thanked his wife, Cassandra Thorburn, who ‘jumped’ giving him big kisses after hearing his name.

Stefanovic emphasized in his acceptance speech that Cassandra left her promising career at ABC to raise their three children, Jackson, Ava and River.

The host of Today said, “First of all, I would like to pay tribute to my wife, Cassandra. She’s a beautiful woman. She has a promising career at ABC and she gave up everything for me and she gave up everything to raise our three kids, our beautiful three kids.”

The Gold Logie winner then thanked his mentor when he started out on television, former WIN TV anchor Bruce Diamond.

The 2000 winner of the Queensland Media Award for Best News Coverage for his 2000 report on the Childers backpacker hostel fire has defeated fellow nominees including Adam Hills, (“Spicks and Specks”), Asher Keddie (“Offspring, Hawke”); Jessica Marais, (“Packed to the Rafters”); and Chrissie Swan (“The Circle”).
