Clarence House confirmed in a statement on Sept. 8 that the Duchess of Cambridge is indeed pregnant with her second child. "Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child," a statement from the palace reads. It further went on to state that the Queen and the royal couple's relatives were extremely happy with the news.

Everyone is delighted about the pregnancy and so is Kate Middleton and Prince William but the Duchess' health condition is not very good. Kate is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is an acute form of morning sickness. She suffered from the same problem during her first pregnancy as well.

Kate is reportedly being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace. Though morning sickness is quite normal in pregnant women, doctors say that Hyperemesis Gravidarum is very unusual. The symptoms range from prolonged nausea, dehydration, low blood pressure and a 5 percent weight loss.

Robyn Coetzee, a specialist dietitian at London Bridge Hospital, told the Daily News, "The condition affects around 0.3 to 1.5 percent of pregnancies. This equates to around 3.5 per 1,000 pregnant women." This form of morning sickness is only experienced during the early stages of pregnancy but Kate has not come out of the 12-week-stage yet.

Her sickness did not allow her to accompany her husband to open a £21m study centre at Oxford University. Prince William told well-wishers there that the Duchess would be better soon and that she would be over the worst of her acute morning sickness in "a few weeks time".

The Duchess will be better soon and her fans wish for the same. Unlike her first pregnancy, when she was hospitalized, she is being treated at home for her morning sickness. In spite of all of that, Kate made it a point to remain fit and healthy during her first pregnancy. She maintained her weight and this time will be no different.

After the birth of George, she took to low-carb diet and adopted a workout routine that included running, walking, yoga and circuit-training workouts. This helped her shed all her post baby weight and Kate lost 29 pounds in just two months. Even before the pregnancy Kate used to follow a low carb-diet.

Known for her slender and fit body, the Duchess will no doubt shock everyone this time as well. Everyone is anticipating the birth of the royal baby, who will be born fourth in line to the throne.
