Kate Middleton Takes Inspiration From Princess Diana For Children's Wardrobe Worn In Recent Portraits
The recent portraits of Princess Charlotte and Prince George taken by the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly allude to the late Princess Diana. According to a report, Kate Middleton took inspiration from Diana on how to dress her children for the photo since it showed a resemblance to how the late princess had dressed Prince William and Prince Harry during their toddler days.
UK’s Now Magazine noted how “Kate Middleton appears to have dressed her two children just like Princess Diana did with a young Prince William and Harry back in the 1980s.” In the recent portraits, Prince George is reportedly even wearing a similar shirt to what Prince William wore when he attended Prince Harry’s christening back in 1984.
Prince William reportedly also wore blue shorts to the christening similar to what Prince George has worn in the photo. The publication also noted how the toddler wore the same colour ensemble when he first visited his sister, Princess Charlotte, following her birth in London.
As for Princess Charlotte, what she wore in the recent portraits supposedly also resembles what Prince Harry wore for a photo shoot when he was still a baby. In the photo, Harry is cradled by Princess Diana while William sits in front again wearing a near identical blue shorts to what Prince George is wearing in the portraits captured by Kate Middleton.
According to the publication, the Duchess of Cambridge may have “been taking inspiration from pictures of Princess Diana with Prince William and Harry when they were babies.” Kate Middleton must have reportedly been looking at old photos of Prince Harry and Prince William when she chose George’s and Charlotte's outfits seen in the portraits.
The recent photographs of Prince George and the first official photos of Princess Charlotte were taken while the family was vacationing in Anmer Hall. According to New Zealand’s Herald, the photos were taken when the princess was about two weeks old. Kate Middleton reportedly took the portraits herself in mid-May.
The portraits were released by Kensington Palace ahead of Princess Charlotte's christening on Sunday, July 5. The baby princess will be baptised in St. Mary Magdalene Church at a private ceremony to be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
