Kate Middleton's always flawless hairstyle costs only $17; here's how she gets it done
The Duchess of Cambridge's secret to awesome hair is this particular brush.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s hair has been the envy of many ever since she started appearing on media. Now, the secret behind her gorgeous hair was revealed by her personal stylist who has been taking care of her hair for more than a decade.
People.com was given an exclusive interview by Richard Ward. He gave a video tutorial on how to achieve Kate Middleton’s signature look called the “Chelsea Blow Dry.” The video gave a step by step instruction on how one can achieve the look for only $17. The video was made as a first instalment for People’s newly launched video series titled “Make Me Kate.”
In the tutorial, Ward explained that it is essential that the hair is in the best condition possible. Initially, he combs it through using the Angel Tangle brush, which can be bought for $17. The brush is anti-static and anti-bacterial. Next, he uses a bulking spritz to help build up the volume. He emphasized the importance of applying the product in the right way. This can be done by dividing the hair into small little sections and spraying it under a section of hair. He further explained that this is how one can get root lift.
Kate’s hairdresser also noted that the common mistake women do is that they shake the hairdryer too much and in the end get frizzy hair. Ward showed in the video how to blow dry the hair correctly.
The hair’s wetness level should be taken note of. He says that one should start blow drying when their hair is 75 to 80 percent wet. Also, blow drying should be done by gently lifting the roots up and putting the dryer on a low speed. He uses the nozzle to rough-dry the hair from roots to tips in a controlled way. Ward also emphasized that using the nozzle is key when drying as the heat from the nozzle closes the cuticles and gets rid of the frizz.
Lastly, the hair is sectioned and placed in using rollers. When taking out the rollers, one should not yank it or pull it, but rather do it carefully while twisting the hair and putting some hairspray. This achieves the popular Chelsea Blow Dry look, People says.
Ward shared that Kate has been going to his salon since her college days, writes the Independent . Now his salon along London’s King’s road has over 90 hair stylists who attends to more than 1,000 customers weekly.
