Katie Holmes has left Tom Cruise and the rest of the world stunned when she filed for divorce last week. But the actress might have hinted on what was about to come during her interview for the August issue of Elle magazine.

It was six weeks ago when Katie Holmes did an interview for Elle. In there, she talked about Tom, Suri and what she desperately wants in her life. The young mom told the publication that she is entering a "new phase" in her life.

It makes more sense now that she has filed for divorce from her husband Tom Cruise. She also seeks sole legal custody for their daughter Suri. Although nothing is confirmed about what really happened, there were a few hints that Katie subtly gave during her interview.

"I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out," Katie said as she talks about the feeling of being in her 30's. "I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase."

When asked about Tom Cruise, Katie was not as warm as to be expected in answering questions about the "Mission Impossible" actor. The interview happened mid of May and the couple was said to have not been in good terms six months prior to Katie's filing for divorce.

"Katie didn't speak about Tom in a lovey-dovey way at all. She deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself," a source said.

While she is gearing up for a divorce and custody battle, the actress responded, "I'm alright. Thank you" when approached and asked by a New York Daily reporter.

Tom who is currently on break from shooting his new film "Oblivion" flew to Los Angeles from Iceland yesterday. The big birthday bash celebration that was supposed to take place at the Big Apple together with Katie, Suri and his close friends was cancelled. Instead, the actor chose to quietly celebrate his 50th birthday with his other children Connor and Isabella.
