It has been claimed that Katie Holmes made discreet phone calls to Tom Cruise's ex wife Nicole Kidman before making her divorce with Tom Cruise known.

The seemingly gentle and quite "Dawson's Creek" actress reportedly sought advice from Tom Cruise's ex wife Nicole Kidman while masterminding how to exit her marriage. Katie shook the world when she filed for divorce, including moving apartments, changing bodyguards and finally filing for sole custody of Suri.

An American magazine reports that Katie sought for Nicole's advice in order to avoid the fate of the 42-year-old actress who rarely sees Connor and Isabella, the children she shares with Tom.

"They've spoken over the last few weeks," a source tells US Weekly magazine. "Nicole has been supportive, saying she's been through it too and to hang in there."

The source also claims that Katie spoke with Nicole during her early marriage with Tom, when the "Moulin Rouge" actress called in to speak to Connor and Isabella. The two actresses is said to have reconnected again recently.

"She has been a private friend not many people know about. She told Katie her life is great now and she has no regrets," the source adds.

After being married for 11 years, Tom filed for divorce from Nicole in 2001. Their split eventually affected Nicole's relationship with their children Connor and Isabella who became followers of Scientology like their father.

Nicole hinted about the heartbreak of being away from her other children saying, "They live with Tom, which was there choice. I'd love them to live with us but what can you do."

Katie and Tom reached settlement on Monday, with Katie having primary custody of their daughter Suri. Tom is allowed visitation rights. However, the actress allegedly insisted that Suri is accompanied with bodyguards when the little girl visits the actor.
