Katy Perry helps deliver her sister’s second child before heading to the studio
She sings, she dances and now Katy Perry has proved that her talents are not limited to the stage – she also delivers babies. The 31-year-old pop star has rushed to the hospital to help her sister Angela Hudson give birth to her second child, and the singer still managed to head to the studio afterwards to work on her latest music.
Katy took to Twitter on Tuesday to tell her fans about her crazy experience and busy day. “Helped deliver my sister’s baby at 2 pm & am in the studio by 8 pm,” she tweeted. Katy also gave a little advice to her male fans, saying “GET A GIRL THAT CAN DO BOTH!”
While delivering a baby may seem like a strange activity, this isn’t actually the first time that Katy has tried her hand at midwifery. Two years ago, she also helped deliver Angela’s first child when she had a home birth.
“Finally you can add ‘helps deliver babies in living rooms’ to my resume! It’s been a miracle of a day… Auntie Katy aka Stylist Auntie,” she tweeted at that time.
“My sister gave birth in her living room and I got to be kind of like an assistant doula, which, in a home birth, is kind of just there for support,” she shared in a later interview while recalling the experience. “I was in it! I mean I was holding ... I probably shouldn’t give too many details, but my sister actually is a true rock star. She gave birth in her living room without a single Advil!”
Katy filmed the entire delivery on her phone but she said her sister didn’t initially want to watch it.
News of Katy’s latest birth duties came after she told fans in a Twitter Q&A last weekend that she’s willing to put her differences with Taylor Swift – with whom she has had an ongoing feud that started in 2012 – aside so they can work on a new music together, but only if the “Bad Blood” singer apologises for her past behaviour.
When asked if she would collaborate with Taylor in the future, Katy said: “If she says sorry, sure!”
