Iconic bombshell Marilyn Monroe's legacy is very much alive for the Weinsteins as it is for her legions of fans, so much so that they're willing to take it on stage.

Who are they tapping for the role, you may ask? It's no other than everyone's "teenage dream", Katy Perry.

The biopic 'My Week With Marilyn', which stars Michelle Williams, has previously made rounds at film festivals and now on theaters, but The Weinstein Company is willing to milk more out of it if the flick becomes a success.

Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of the said production company, tells E!'s Marc Malkin that they are planning to push through with a Broadway musical version of the movie.

"If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first," he says.

"I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage...I think she would be amazing." Weinstein added.

Actually, Perry was somewhat involved in the promotion of the movie. Her latest single, 'The One That Got Away', was remixed and a video was created mashing it up with the flick's actual scenes.

"Katy posted about it on her Twitter and Facebook and the next thing you know 250,000 people have downloaded the trailer in an hour," the media mogul proudly shares.

The 'Firework' songstress already played the sex symbol in a German commercial last year. A short video for 'Teenage Dream' was made for the TV show 'Star Force', and one of the scenes had her dressed up as Marilyn Monroe.

She recreated the famous 'Seven Year Itch' scene where she dons a blond wig and a red dress, which then gets blown up above her knees as she stands on a subway vent.

The news comes off the heels of her recent admission that she wants to take a year off to start a family with husband Russell Brand, despite being currently at the top of her game.

New York Post reports that the hitmaker has already informed her manager about her plans after her 'California Dreams' tour ends next week.

However, that's unsure now, especially when you're offered a chance to play Marilyn Monroe in a musical. It's just too hard to resist.
