Because of the buzz over an upcoming Android OS that started in late 2012, among the 10 things that techies are expecting in the May Google 1/O is the roll out of the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

1. Key Lime Pie - But the techies all agree that Google will probably just give Android followers a peek at the new OS since the current Android 4.2v update is not yet available on many devices yet. However, mere announcement of the Key Lime Pie would likely be a warning sign for Apple to hurry up with its iOS 7 software update, lest its stocks continue to plummet like the demand for iPad and iPhones are.

2. Babel - Screen grabs have previously teased people about his Google feature that includes "just once" notifications. More details are expected about it in the conference.

3. A New Nexus 7 Tablet - Expectations for an upgraded Nexus 7 tablet, likely to be manufactured by Asus, included higher ppi, 3G service and a price tag within the range of $149 to $199. The device is expected to compete with the new iPad mini 2 with retina. Rumours said it would have an expanded screen size of 8 inches to rival the iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

4. More News About Google Glass - While by the time the conference starts, many people would be by then enjoying the device, the I/O would be a good opportunity for the announcement of third-party apps for the Google Glass. Other expectations include more designs for people who are using regular glasses in the first place and some hipper Glass frames from known designer brands.

5. Lower Price for the Original Nexus 7 - It is logical to expect a lower price for the original Nexus 7 once an updated version is released. Among the anticipated price tags for this device at $149, $129 and $99.

6. Cellular Service for the Nexus 10 - Will AT&T and T-Mobile heed the call and allow Nexus 10 device owners to make voice calls on their units. Of course, this involves some prior upgrade on the Nexus 10 tablet by Google. Such an upgrade would make the Nexus 10 a stronger competitor of the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

7. Google Now - The conference is a good opportunity for Google to confirm or quash rumours that the Google Now widget will soon be found in iPhones and iPads after the tech world was teased with a YouTube video on that, which was promptly pulled out.

8. Android@Home Automation System - First rumoured in I/O 2011, but not much idea has been heard of since then. This year's I/O may be a good opportunity for Google to provide more details.

9. Nexus 5 - Due to lack of LET service from most carriers for the recently launched Nexus 4 smartphone, talks of a Nexus 5 persists. Such a feature would make the Nexus 4, which runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, compete better with the Galaxy S3, HTC One and iPhone 5.

10. Nexus Q - This proposed home entertainment solution remains an idea and people would love to see this black orb finally on sale with a real price tag at Google Play.
