Kim Kardashian unfollows Perez Hilton on Twitter after blogger calls for Kardashian news blackout
Following FOX News anchor John Brown’s Kardashian rant and on-air walkout last week, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has started a campaign calling on other media outlets to do a Kardashian Kleanse. Hilton has declared a Kardashian-Jenner news blackout from Monday to Friday next week, and because of this, Kim Kardashian reportedly unfollowed the blogger on Twitter.
Is this the latest Kardashian vs. Hilton feud? The reality star didn't say anything about the blogger’s call for a boycott, but she silently unfollowed him. His boycott could see him replacing former BFF-turned-frienemy Paris Hilton on the Kardashian blacklist since Kim and Paris have already let bygones be bygones.
A statement on the popular showbiz blog by Perez Hilton said that on the week of August 17 to 21, there won’t be any stories published on the site about the famous reality show family. Not only will the site stop covering any news about the immediate Kardashian-Jenner clan, it will also have a total news blackout on all the other members of the extended family including their kids, boyfriends, husbands and even their exes.
The statement also throws some major shade at the family by saying that in place of Kardashian-Jenner news, stories about “inspiring stories” of “amazing women” will be published instead. The blog also started a campaign to get other media outlets onboard through the hashtag #NoKardashiansForAWeek.
The news blackout campaign came after FOX News anchor John Brown went on a hilarious on-air rant about having too many Kardashian-related stories on “Good Day Orlando,” a show that he co-anchors on Fox 35 channel. He walked out of the set and started ranting about how sick he is of reporting something about the family every single day. The story on that particular day was about Kylie Jenner’s new rabbit, which she named Bruce.
The anchor later clarified that he had nothing against the Kardashians. Instead, he was ranting more about the way the stories are selected for the program. He explained that he does not have any problem covering a piece about the family as long as it is a newsworthy item and not something as mundane as a rabbit’s name.
