Kim Kardashian West has just released her coffee table book dedicated to selfies. The 352-page book titled “Selfish” came out on May 5, and very ironically, it has been reported that the reality star and selfie queen has banned fans from taking selfies at the book launch. Kim’s representatives have denied the reports and a personal account by one journalist says that Kim was more than happy to pose with fans.

Kim announced that she will be at Barnes & Noble to sign books and meet her fans on the day of the launch. Judging from a video taken by her best friend Jonathan Cheban outside the book store, there was a big crowd waiting for her at the venue.

According to Mirror, reports came out that Kim refused to take selfies with fans so that everyone could get their copy of the book signed quickly and the long line could keep moving at a decent pace. However, Mirror also states that Kim’s representative denied these allegations, saying that she took photos with as many fans as she could accommodate during the event.

Some fans reportedly camped out in line since Monday evening just to get a chance to meet Kim and to be the first ones to lay their hands on copies of the book. The New York Daily News reports the same situation. The story states that fans were greeted by a security guard who informed them that they are not allowed to take photos with Kim and neither are they allowed to ask her for personalised inscriptions once she signs the books that they purchased.

Reuven Blau, who wrote the piece, gave a first person account of his experience during the signing. He shared photos of the long line of fans waiting outside and insisted that the security guard at the event didn’t want fans to take photos with Kim as it would slow down the line.

However, despite the restrictions, Blau shared that Kim herself didn’t seem to mind taking photos with fans. In fact, the reporter says that he not only managed to get a somewhat out-of-focus shot, he was also able to engage her in a small chat about the MET Gala. Despite the restrictions, Kim didn't mind and accommodated her fans' requests.
