Kings of Leon think that raunchy pop acts of today are setting a bad example for the children. The boys of the American rock group didn’t mention names, although there are several names that come to mind, such as Miley Cyrus and Rihanna, when they mentioned provocative dance moves and nude acts.

Lead guitarist Matthew Followill couldn’t believe that kids are watching “f****** awful” shows from some female singers.

“Some pop shows I watch, it feels like the end of the world, it’s f****** awful,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“It’s not even music anymore. You would never want your children to watch (shows like that) and I can’t believe that younger kids, even teenagers, are watching that stuff. It almost seems to be making the world a bad place.”

Bass guitarist Jared Followill agreed, saying, “They make me cringe. I can’t watch that stuff. Not even just because they’re taking their clothes off. It’s the whole thing, the dance moves, it’s not good.”

Miley and Rihanna are favourite tabloid fodders for their sexually provocative dance moves and for wearing risqué costumes. Miley, who used to be a kiddie idol not too long ago, suddenly wanted to wash off her Disney image and become a sex symbol of sorts.

Her controversial MTV VMA performance with Robin Thicke in August attracted backlash from the social media and even from other celebrities. Even though Kings of Leon didn’t name names during their interview, it’s highly likely that they were referring to her among other stars.

The band, which also includes lead vocalist Caleb Followill and drummer Nathan Followill, were in Australia for their Sydney Harbour gig. They were supposed to play for the Channel V concert on Monday, but the schedule was moved to Tuesday, November 19, due to bad weather.

They are promoting their sixth studio album, “Mechanical Bull,” which has already topped the Australian and New Zealand album charts.
