Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur finally found his Guinevere in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide” star Astrid Berges-Frisbey. The French-Spanish actress and model bested popular actresses for the role of Arthur’s love interest, including “The Theory of Everything” star Felicity Jones, and “Godzilla” star Elizabeth Olsen.

“I’m very conscious of the luck I’ve had. It’s important to have this in your mind and remember it,” Frisbey told W Magazine. “You have to work hard and prove that you deserve this place.”

“Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” director Guy Ritchie is currently moving forward with his upcoming cinematic remake of the Arthurian legend with two of the movie’s main characters. Eric Bana was cast recently to play Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon.

Here are the five things to know about Charlie Hunnam’s leading lady, Astrid Berges-Frisbey.

  1. Before landing the role as Guinevere, the 28-year-old star is best known for her role as mermaid Syrena in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. Her movie roles include Suzanne in “The Sea Wall” and Sofi in “I Origins.” A recipient of the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti in 2009, the actress also won the Trophée Chopard Award for Female Revelation of the Year at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
  2. Born in Spain and grew up in France, Frisbey started her formative years as an actress on French TV in 2007. After working for almost a year in the small screen, she appeared in films alongside Vincent Perez, Daniel Auteuil and Isabelle Huppert. She made her feature debut in 2008 in “The Sea Wall.”
  3. The actress landed her in “I Origin” because of her distinct eye colour, as she plays Sofi, a girl who possess a genetic mutation that results in multi-coloured irises. Her chemistry to her co-star, Daniel Auteuil, is also palpable as the film follows the journey of Auteuil’s character in his obsession with the evolution of the eye.
  4. Currently serves as Chanel’s ambassadress, the Barcelona-born star was personally picked by director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer for her first English language debut in 2011, “The Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides.”
  5. A major star in the making, the actress will play the role as Guinevere in Ritchie’s six-instalment film. She is represented by CAA, Untitled and Artmedia.
