After he was detained by police in San Diego, California last week, Jason Russell's wife Danica released in a statement that his husband suffered brief psychosis which led to his bizarre and public display of nudity.

The KONY 2012 director who calls out for the arrest of Ugandan fugitive Joseph Kony was hospitalized last week due to brief psychosis as told by his wife on Wednesday. Russell who is a major part of the 30-minute KONY 2012 video which went viral last month was arrested and detained in San Diego after her hurled over the streets undressed and acting strangely.

"Jason's incident was in no way the result of drugs or alcohol in his body. The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis, an acute state brought on by extreme exhaustion, stress and dehydration," his wife Danica said.

The KONY 2012 video became a YouTube sensation and now hits more than 84 million views. The video was meant to put a spotlight on the L.R.A. leader Joseph Kony who kidnaps Ugandan children for his army and sex trafficking.

On Wednesday, the same day Russell's wife confirmed he had psychosis, an anti- Kony resolution was presented at the Senate.

"Joseph Kony represents the worst of mankind, and he and his commanders must be held accountable for their war crimes. Today, one-third of the United States Senate has joined me in condemning the LRA's unconscionable crimes against humanity," Chris Coons, a democrat from Delaware said.

Although Jason Russell and his organization might be experiencing a little taste of victory, negative criticisms are thrown ever much harder since his "unfortunate incident."

"The doctors say this is a common experience given the great mental, emotional and physical shock his body has gone through in these last two weeks," Danica, his wife, said.

Russell was taken to a medical facility to be treated for exhaustion, malnutrition and dehydration. His wife said that he will remain in the hospital for a couple of weeks even leading up to months before he could resume his work with the "Invisible Children."
