'La La Land' trailer shows Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone falling in love amidst struggles and dreams
Actors Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are once again teaming up to get the general population’s hearts fluttering in their new film, “La La Land.” The musical film is directed by Acadmey Award nominee Damien Chazelle.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Gosling, 35, and Stone, 27, would pair up for “La La Land.” The first sneak peak of the film was shown at CinemaCon in April at The Palace Las Vegas. The sneak peak was shown exclusively to the attendees of the conference but received praises anyway. However, a public one was released just this week.
The official trailer, which showcases the sweet vocals of Stone, paints the picture of finding and falling in love in Los Angeles. Stone plays the role of Mia, a struggling actress, who falls in love with Gosling’s Sebastian, a struggling jazz musician. It is directed by Chazelle and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 31.
“Here’s to the mess we make,” Stone sings in the first official trailer.

As Vanity Fair quotes, Lionsgate praises the film, calling it an “homage to Hollywood that is wonderfully familiar and completely unique -- modern and classic, and unlike anything else you will see this year.”
Stone shares these sentiments, saying that director Chazelle “made a love letter to L.A, and it truly shows his passion for the city. ‘La La Land’ is a love story that comes alive with every dance, gesture, and lyric.”
Chazelle really took inspiration from the beauty and magic of L.A, as well as the people dreaming within its boundaries. “it’s a city that’s so filled with dreamers, most of whom won’t make it,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I think there’s something poetic about that.”
But while the pretence of the film is love and dreams, Chazelle also notes that the dreams of Stone and Gosling’s characters are what ultimately pulls them apart.
"La La Land" is the third collaboration between Stone and Gosling. They also paired up in 2011's "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and 2013's "Gangster Squad."
