Lady Gaga Accused of Copying Annie Lennox for Gender Bender VMA's Performance [PHOTOS and VIDEO]
The singer buzzed with copying allegations is again criticized after appearing as a younger Joe Calderone at this year's MTV VMA's.
Fashion Police host Kelly Osbourne, who's known to voice out her opinions on originality, has took a stab at Lady Gaga's drag "gimmick," saying that Annie Lennox has done it before in 1984. Osbourne was talking about the Eurythmic's Grammy live performance of "Sweet Dreams are Made of These" (video below), saying the similarity is too much to be left unnoticed.
"I love lady gaga but I wish she would start giving credit where credit is due!" says Osbourne as reported by The Daily Mail. Osbourne is not alone with this sentiment, with Annie Lennox and 80's music fans fuming in disappointment. One comment on the Daily Mail report says "My first thoughts on seeing her like this were 1) What the h*ll is Ralph Macchio doing at the VMAs and 2) Oh, its Gaga. Doing her Annie Lennox ripoff. Sigh."
This is not the first time the "Born This Way" singer is accused of copying. 80's pop sensation Grace Jones, who is also known for her flamboyant and shocking ensembles, says she is "not amused" with how Gaga copies some of what she already wore. Just last month, Broadway legend Bette Midler flamed the singer for copying her "mermaid" act when Gaga performed in a wheelchair for her performance in Australia.
"Dear @ladygaga Ive been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980-You can keep the meat dress and the firecracker tits-mermaid's mine," tweeted Midler back in July. "Dear @ladygaga if you think a mermaid in a wheelchair seems familiar-it's because it is! You can see it on youtube 24/7-with ME performing it." added an annoyed Midler in her Twitter page.
