Lady Gaga's Permit to Concert Denied, Religious Groups Say ‘Too Pornographic’ for Indonesia
While some of Lady Gaga's concert shows have a definite go signal, looks like Indonesian fans might end up ripping their tickets in dismay. The singer was denied a permit following a series of protests against her concert.
Lady Gaga has been touring the rest of Asia and one of her next stop would be in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 3. Unlike the warm welcome she received in Tokyo, Japan, everything in Jakarta is not brewing well. Islamic groups in Indonesia have been conducting series of protests to ban the singer from stepping in their country.
They believe that the singer promotes evil worship and that is why conservative groups won't allow the Jakarta concert for her "Born This Way Ball" tour. Since the police stated that they cannot guarantee the singer's safety in Indonesia, they have denied Gaga the permit to hold the concert.
Although Indonesian religious groups have protested against western artists in the past, this was the first time the police have denied an event permit.
"She's a vulgar singer. She wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread Satanic teaching," Salim Alatas, from the Islam Defenders Front commented.
It seems like the group is serious in keeping Lady Gaga out. They have threatened to deploy 30,000 Islamic Defender's Front members to prevent the singer from getting off the plane.
"We from the FPI reject the Lady Gaga concert because she will destroy the morals and culture of Indonesia," Alatas added while saying that the group would not reject the singer is she was not "pornographic."
Big Daddy productions, the promoter for the Indonesian concert are still talking to authorities to issue a permit for the Lady Gaga concert.
