‘The Last of Us 2’ release date, price: Ellie seeks revenge, fans fear Joel may be dead

“The Last of Us 2” release date is not etched in stone. However, there are fan speculations that lead many to believe that Ellie will not have a lover but she will avenge the death of one. Joel, on the other hand, may already be dead.

There are talks that the trailer of the game has revealed yet more clues to what players can expect of the game’s upcoming instalment. Recently, it has been speculated that Joel is really dead. According to reports, a new trailer of the game revealed Joel, the original main character of the game, to be very kempt. This has many fans saying that Joel may have already seen the afterlife as he no longer wears blood-soiled clothing.

In addition to Joel being clean, another clue that has led fans to believe that he is dead is his age. It seems that he has not aged even though the game will be set five years after the first instalment. Therefore, Ellie may be hallucinating that Joel was in the room with her when she was playing the guitar in the previous trailers.

Is Joel really dead?

There is no telling whether or not Joel is really dead. However, director Neil Druckmann does mention the upcoming instalment to be all about hate. On the other hand, there is no clear information as to what the storyline of the sequel will be. According to DroidReport, there is a theory that Joel may have committed suicide. This theory is, however, debunked by Naughty Dog's mention in the game description that Joel and Ellie are both going to return to the game. In addition to this, Joel will no longer be the playable character in the game. Ellie will take his place instead.

Who does Ellie seek to kill?

According to a YouTube video, it is still unknown who Ellie is referring to in the trailer video when she says, “I’m going to find and I’m going to kill every last one of them.” Although a lot of fans think that it is Firefly, the video suggests that there may be another group of people she is seeking to kill. This theory cannot be proven as of late. There is no information yet on the storyline except that it will be taking place five years after the previous instalment of the game.
