Laverne Cox and other ‘Orange Is the New Black’ Season 4 stars talk Emmy Awards preparations
The 2015 Emmy Awards are just around the corner, and as early as now, stars are already preparing for the big event. The actresses from “Orange is the New Black” Season 4 has even revealed some of their pre-award show fashion preparations and beauty secrets.
“Orange is the New Black” stars Laverne Cox, Laura Prepon and Danielle Brooks told Us Weekly that they already have their glam squads primed for the event. Cox, who plays Sophia Burset in the Netflix series, shared that she already has a dress to wear for the event, although her hair and makeup will only be decided at the last minute.
“Christina Pacelli, my stylist, sent photos of me in the dress from my last fitting to Ursula Stephens, who is doing my hair, and Deja Smith, who is doing my makeup,” said Cox. “We want them to be inspired based on the dress, so they’ll come with ideas the day of and we will create together.”
The star also revealed that her biggest Emmy Award preparation will involve a “good night’s sleep” as well as a “good breakfast.” Cox added, “I will probably have egg whites with tomato and mushrooms — and some bacon on the side.”
As for Prepon, who plays Alex Vause in “Orange is the New Black,” she revealed that her beauty secret is to have a massage and a facial treatment before big events to “flush out toxins.” The star also mentioned that she is coordinating closely with her hairstylist, Jonathan Colombini, to finalise her look for the 2015 Emmy Awards. She explained to Us Weekly how Colombini typically gets inspiration from her red carpet dress, which would then influence Prepon’s Emmy Awards look.
Meanwhile, Brooks, who plays Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson in the hit series, told Us Weekly that she usually starts looking for the perfect dress and making it the main focus of her red carpet look. From there on, other components would reportedly follow such as the shoes, jewellery, as well as hair and makeup. However, one of Brook’s fashion must-haves after the awards show are a pair of comfortable shoes, to relax her feet. “My must-have is flat shoes for after the carpet,” said the star.
Meanwhile, “Orange is the New Black” has four Emmy nominations this year, which includes Outstanding Drama Series, Netflix Life reports. Cast member Uzo Aduba was also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while Pablo Schreiber and Jennifer Euston were nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, respectively.
“Orange is the New Black” fans would have to wait until Sunday’s Emmy Awards to find out if the series will take home some of the gold.
The 2015 Emmy Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 20.
