LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya creates World’s Largest LEGO Batmobile [Watch Video]
An unbelievably big LEGO Batmobile, made by the world-renowned LEGO brick artist Nathan Sawaya, has caught the fantasy of the art lovers from all around the world. This masterpiece by Sawaya will be exhibited along with his other 120 original works of art at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia on Nov. 20.
The new LEGO Exhibit by Sawaya has brought DC Comics to life, not only with the Batmobile, but also with his creations of Wonder Woman, Batman, Joker and Superman’s faces. He has been completely focused on this project for the past few months. The LEGO artist has created the Batmobile from half a million LEGO bricks, according to Business Wire. Sawaya reportedly took less than three months to construct the masterpiece, which appears to be straight out of the streets of Gotham City.
Sawaya has collaborated with Korean-American comic book artist Jim Lee for this artwork. He considers this collaboration with Lee to be perfect as he came to know a lot about the parts of the car and used all the information to build his LEGO artwork. They worked for 10-12 hours daily for six to seven days per week.
"Jim was so gracious to sketch out the design as we took suggestions from the audience during this panel. He drew it out, then I had a couple weeks to really just think about it while it was percolating in my mind. And then it was about two months worth of work building the entire structure," Sawaya said in a Comic Book Resources (CBR) report.
The LEGO Batmobile artwork is currently placed at Sawaya's studio. The sleek design and the massive size of the car are the highlights of this Batmobile which has helped Sawaya to secure the centerpiece spot for his LEGO artwork in the upcoming tour exhibition The Art of the Brick: DC Comics.
Sawaya is an artist based in New York. He has the reputation of bringing out life-size and three-dimensional sculptures made from LEGO toy bricks. Notably, he left his job as an attorney to focus on his passion for art and started working as a full-time LEGO artist.
