'LEGO Jurassic World' Announced, Set For Release Later This Year
Thanks to their broad appeal and simple, yet fun gameplay, the popular "LEGO" games from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer TT Games continue to charm gamers of all ages. Every year sees the release of new games based on well-liked film and comic book franchises. Gamers have explored the streets of Gotham, the Mines of Moria, the halls of Hogwarts and more. With the announcement of this year's "LEGO Jurassic World," they'll get to visit Jurassic Park for the first time in the series.
WBIE confirmed via press release on its official website that "LEGO Jurassic World" will see gamers follow along the storylines of the first four films in the franchise. "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," and "Jurassic Park III," will be available to play through. Gamers will also be able to play the videogame version of director Colin Trevorrow's hotly anticipated upcoming sequel, "Jurassic World."
"The LEGO videogame franchise remains a cornerstone of our business, consistently delivering fun, engaging gameplay and remarkable humor both kids and adults love," said David Haddad, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, in an official statement.
The "LEGO" series of games is notable for featuring multiple playable characters. Players can switch between these characters during gameplay, or take part in drop-in, drop-out split screen co-operative play. Gameplay typically involves simple combo-based combat, construction puzzles, and the exploration of popular locations from the universe each game is set in.
British developer TT Games is well respected for the consistent quality of the "LEGO" games it produces, starting with 2005's surprise hit, "LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game." Gamespot noted that the game was one that suited kids, potentially among the best in the lineup of games targeted for that particular audience today. But it also does not ignore an adult fan base with its clever and charming gameplay.
A firm release date for "LEGO Jurassic World" has not been announced, however, Eurogamer reports that the game will be made available sometime in June for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
