Lenovo IdeaTab Gets Android 4.1.1 JellyBean
After another day and another round of JellyBean update to several mobile devices, Lenovo IdeaTab is finally getting an update. The device originally runs Ice Cream Sandwich and now users can obtain the latest Android version 4.1.1 JellyBean for Lenovo IdeaTab A2109.
There are two ways to obtain such updates but users primarily use the OTA method. The push update over the air is currently hitting U.S. owners but is not limited to them only.
To use the second method, download the zip file of the US firmware and flash it to the device. The JellyBean update is pretty large and will require 400MB so it can be flashed directly.
The new changes aren't yet specified but since it is in JellyBean, the additional features will basically be included:
- Gesture mode for blind users to navigate UI reliably
- TalkBack now supports gestures to trigger actions.
- Braille accessibility services.
- Improved browser, CPU, and memory efficiency.
- Better performance for animations and HTML5 canvases
- Updated JavaScript Engine, pages load faster and feel smoother
- Swipe from camera viewfinder to quick photo reviews without leaving the camera application
- Filmstrip mode for photo reviewing the Gallery
- Android Beam
- Face Unlock improvements and can optionally require "blink" for verification
- New language inputs including Persian, Hindi and Thai
- Keyboard improvements
- New notifications display
- System security improvements
- More widgets improvements
The version of the US firmware of the Android 4.1.1 JellyBean is A2109A_A411_03_13_121126_US. For users that flashed custom rom, the update via flashing will remove the custom rom including the root access as well.
Since this is a new release, the 4.2 Android update isn't expected to come really soon.
Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 is powered by ICS Android as original firmware, Nvidia Tegra 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage with 16GB allowed expansion card slot.
