Lenovo's new ThinkPad X1 Carbon was recently launched to Australia. Lenovo claims it is the best ultrabook yet.

Aussies may take delight to this new device from Lenovo. The intelligent design of the device is perfect for the busy lifestyle of modern society.

The carbon-fibre roll cage and top cover protects the device it while being bumped around during everyday use and keep it lightweight at 1.36kg. Moreover, the device is so slim and has had all the corners slightly rounded off the matte carbon black finish looks quite sleek.

The best thing about the laptop is that it is powered by an Intel i7 core processor packed with 4GB of RAM which gives the gives the laptop decent speed to do multiple functions at the same time.

The Thinkpad X1 Carbon has a fine 1600×900 pixel resolution to give a good video experience. The ports of the latptop include a card reader, two USB ports (one 3.0 and one 2.0). The device also has a decent storage capacity of 256 GB. The device also sports a 720 p front facing camera. The device runs on windows 7 operating system.

Lenovo is a hardware manufacturer known for making performance oriented laptops and this one is no exception but there are a few glitches in the laptop. The battery of the laptop lasts just for puny 3 hours, which may turn off professionals. Avid gamers may also pass this laptop as it does not offer high audio visual gaming effects.

Despite the fair features mentioned above, tech press seemed not amused by the device, especially when the base model RRP was initially announced as being about $700 more than the USA street price. However Lenovo claims that the difference is really $290 when both street prices are compared.

The base model in the USA includes integrated 3G Mobile Broadband. However, the version released in Australia does not. Customizing a Lenovo laptop purchase by adding higher specification parts is significantly more expensive for Australian buyers than Americans.
