LG Likely Working on Key Lime Pie-Powered Google Nexus 5 but Base Model is Not the LG G2 – Reports
The chance is high that Google is releasing the Nexus 5 in Q4 2013 and the tech giant's Nexus 4 partner, LG, could be the chosen manufacturer of what is being touted as the first Key Lime Pie handset.
Quoting a new scoop from @evleaks, Gotta Be Mobile reported this week that things are getting more favourable for LG in terms of securing the Nexus 5 project, which for now counts two LG handsets as its possible templates.
The popular gadget news leaker tweeted that the "Nexus 5 is probably the LG Optimus L9 II," which is a device model bearing specs that are below par with the impressive capabilities that the G2 will showcase on its scheduled release date in August.
The reports suggests that Google's signature smartphone will skip on the high-end components stuffed by LG with the G2, headlined by a 5.2-inch screen, which obviously of phablet-size, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon CPU and a 13MP main cam snapper that fits in with the insanely great camera features that Google once boasted about.
But @evleaks stopped short of providing the specific features that the Nexus 5 will copy from the Optimus L9 II.
Instead, he pitched another interesting twist on the mysterious 2013 Nexus smartphone project by teasing that there is a possibility too that "Nexus 5 looks to be a Motorola handset."
If that is the case, it is likely too that Motorola will label the handset as the Nexus 4 version 2.0, @evleaks said.
With the new development, consumers are likely to get two versions of the Nexus 5, GBM offered, one, of course, is LG-assembled and the other one to take a page from the soon-to-rollout Moto X, which earlier this year was rumoured as a strong Nexus phone candidate.
Or Google is mulling the release of a high-end Nexus 5, with a higher tag price from the previous model, while offering a cheaper edition that will sport most of the Moto X specs and features plus its relatively affordable pricing.
Sticker price should start at $300 for the LG variant and less than $200 in the event the Moto X edition materialises.
Regardless, Android watchers are looking for an October 2013 release date for the Nexus 5, which is prized for its powerful components under the belly plus its vanilla Android that allows super-user access to the handset
