An executive of LG Electronics confirmed that the company is not working on the successor of the popular LG Nexus 4 dubbed as Nexus 5.

Vice President of LG Mobile in Europe Won Kim said in a statement: "The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again."

These comments suggest that LG is not working the Nexus 5 or a Google Edition of one of their flagship phones like what Samsung did during Google I/O this year. However, a spokesperson for LG told TheNextWeb that they certainly wouldn't reject the chance to work on future Nexus devices:

"What Mr. Won Kim said is that we are not currently working on a Nexus 5, which is true. But that doesn't mean we would turn down the opportunity."

This statement sparked speculations on the next Google phone. Speculations led to Moto X to be the successor of Nexus 4.

Last year, Google Inc. acquired Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. and this is a great indication that Motorola will release a smartphone for its sister company.

Motorola has finally confirmed the X Phone and claims it will be a "contextually aware" game changer that can predict a user's needs and respond automatically.

Motorola's chief executive, Dennis Woodside, revealed at D11 that Motorola is launching a new flagship Android device and that it will be called the Moto X. He also claimed that the revolutionary device was in his pocket but refused to take it out. Consumers will have to wait until October, when it is scheduled for launch.

The Moto X phone will have some incredible internal specs, according to early leaks. It is reported that the Moto X phone could have a "5-inch display...In addition, the camera is reportedly 10 megapixels, less than the 13 megapixels on the Samsung Galaxy S4 but more than the 8 megapixels on the iPhone 5." The specs will rival the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4, since Motorola Mobility is betting so heavily on the phone. Reports also claimed that Moto X phone could be cheap just like LG Nexus 4.

However, neither Google nor Motorola confirmed that it Moto X is indeed the next Google phone.
