LG to Release New Prada Android Phone
LG recently announced its partnership again with fashion giant, Prada in order to release a new LG Prada handset next year.
This new Prada Phone dubbed as LG Prada K2 is manufactured by LG 3.0. In terms of specifications for this new Prada phone, it is reported to be a 4.3-inch NOVA display, a design under 9mm, 2 cameras (8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera), dual-core processor, and HSDPA+radio. The new Prada phone is also reported to be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but it could be upgraded to the latest Android version which is Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) upon its release.
This is not the first time that LG and Prada had partnered up to develop the Prada phone. The partnership between the two companies started in the year 2006 and they were able to release the Prada phones in the following years (2007 and 2008). The original LG 1.0 was considered as the first capacitive touchscreen mobile phone when it was released. The LG 1.0 sold over 1 million units. The second version which is the LG Prada 2.0 did not reach the same commercial success as the first Prada phone.
This "renewal" of partnership between the two companies signifies that these companies are both determined to come up with a Prada mobile phone that would focus on these key elements: software, user interface, design, and packaging. Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of PRADA Group described the partnership as "an innovative approach and uncompromised quality of style, design and breakthrough technology." Bertrelli also added that "These values are common to both our brands, which have always anticipated, and often set, the trends in many fields. We were therefore delighted to cooperate again with LG in the development of the latest creation of the mobile communication industry." On the other hand, Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company remarked on the partnership deal between the two companies stating that their relationship with each other is "unique". Park also remarked about his hopes for the future of this venture stating "Having successfully launched two PRADA phones by LG, we look forward to collaborating further to develop premium handsets with a strong identity and the most sophisticated style."
