Captain Paul McKay was missing for quite a while, and now, his body has been found in New York. The Canberra soldier was suffering from stress disorder after his traumatic experience in Afghanistan. He was on a leave from the army after he was detected.

The body was found near the Scarface Mountain in New York. Sergeant James Law of the Saranac Lake Police Department, New York, confirmed that location of the body. He said on Thursday that they were hopeful that they might end up finding him alive but things turned out to be otherwise. He told AAP that Captain McKay's family had been notified.

Sky News reports that the last time Captain McKay was seen when he was walking on railroad tracks in the Adirondack Mountains on New Year's Eve. His father earlier received an email from him on Dec 30. It was mentioned in the email that he had left all his possessions to his father.

An autopsy has been scheduled to be conducted after the lifeless body of Captain McKay was found in one of the popular hiking sites in New York. The discovery of the body is the result of a two-week long search. The polar vortex caused some extreme weather in the region. Recently the area has suffered snow storms as well as extremely cold temperatures which fell even below 300C.

MSN News reports that the cause of Captain McKay's death is yet to be known. The reason why his body was not found for two weeks is that his body was in the part of the mountain that remain hidden during the helicopter search. The body was only discovered on Wednesday, Jan 15, when a forest ranger from New York climbed the mountain and discovered it.
