Lindsay Lohan Gets 125 Extra Hours Of Community Service
Following the dispute as to whether Lindsay Lohan’s meeting and greeting fans while on community service should be counted toward her hours, she was now given extra 125 community service hours to settle the argument. Page Six reports that the “Mean Girls” star need to complete these extra hours before May 28.
The actress, who was absent before the Los Angeles Superior Court, now has to do more community service, even though there were already documents that she completed her hours earlier this month. Prosecutor Terry White deemed that she needed more hours as some of her community service was completed meeting and greeting her fans. The community hours are in relation to her auto accident back in 2012. Once completed, she is set to complete her probation, which she has been on for more or less eight years, ever since 2007.
The actress was originally ordered to complete only 240 community service hours as well as rehabilitation and psychotherapy as part of her 2013 plea deal in relation to the vehicular accident. However, the additional hours were deemed necessary after city prosecutor Terry White raised doubts with regard to how the actress was carrying out her “community service.” Hours completed over a fan meet and greet were counted as community service and the prosecutor got angry, stating Lohan was playing around with the system.
Earlier this month, Mail Online UK reported that Lohan finished her 240 hours of community service, but spent a significant chunk of the hours just by shaking the hands of their fans. The actress reportedly devoted 70 hours of community service to meeting and greeting volunteers. The reports even claimed that the actress allowed the volunteers to shadow her work.
The documents also legitimised Lohan’s meet and greet as community service, describing it as “providing volunteers with insight into a very different working life, giving invaluable and unique experiences.”
Prosecutor Terry White claimed that Lohan is manipulating the system, which serves to highlight how weak the criminal justice system is. He was so angry he even said he is contemplating granting Lohan jail time. In her defense, Lindsay said she only did what the community service organisation told her to do. Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, is said to have argued her case in the court with that argument.
