Lorde may be a mainstay in the deep-dark punk scene now, appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone, but fellow punk band does, Black Lips is not impressed. It is highly unlikely that they are going to collaborate. If Black Lips has its way, the American band will not be working with Lorde any time soon, or never ever. Black Lips' intense dislike for the song, "Royals," that made Lorde a household name make this team up impossible, MTV reports.

According to the band's guitarist Cole Alexander, "We'd probably say no [if Lorde asked us to collaborate]." Outspoken Alexander added, "We've said no to stuff like that before. Sometimes I'll try to open myself because some things will be so ridiculous that I might actually do it, but I don't think I'd do it with her."

Alexander clarifies that he doesn't dislike Lorde herself. However, he thinks "Royals" demonstrates naïveté. "It's hard to say I actually hate it, but it's a bit confused," he said, pointing to the familiar lyrics decrying pop stars' and rappers' fascination with Maybachs and diamonds.

Most of the people that are rapping about Maybachs and diamonds come from really 'torn-up towns,'" Alexander exclaimed. "I feel like they come from worse parts and they aspire to get Maybachs and diamonds because they come from ratchet-ass 'hoods where they have no hope. I think it's a bit righteous of her."

He softened down the attack a bit by saying, "I feel like she's got it a little bit confused. I also heard she's 17, so maybe she's naäve."

The musician also has negative things to say about the young singer's voice, "I don't like the groove of it and all these singers they have this inflection in their voice - I can't even put my finger on it - on what it is, but they're trying to sing like they're trying to sing or something. It's not a natural voice."

Ouch, if Lorde is reading this, then we can be sure she will not be asking for a collaboration to happen anyway. At least she's staging one sold out concert after another on her U.S tour and there is a really loving boyfriend waiting for her back in Australia.
