Louis C.K. announced on May 5 that he will be starring in an indie movie "I'm a Cop." The comedian will also be directing and producing the flick.

“I don't feel like I need anyone to tell me anything with a TV show because I know exactly what I'm doing, but I'd be arrogant to think that I can take someone's $8 million and just turn in a movie,” said Louis C.K. according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 47-year-old also added that movies were different to TV shows and that movies had a "permanency" feel.

C.K.’s last big-screen directorial and writing gig was 2001’s "Pootie Tang" starring Chris Rock. In 2012, Deadline reported that Paramount removed him off the film during post-production. The report says that the comedian feels that "Pootie Tang" was a "mistake."

The Emmy winning actor also said that the experience was "very painful" and that the movie should not have been made. However, C.K also admitted that failing at "Pootie Tang" was one of the reasons he was successful now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter report, Louis C.K. also said that he was dealing with people everyday whose pressures he didn't understand. He reveals that he was'nt nice about how he said no to them. The comedian feels that now he understands that he has to show more "empathy."

The report says that film will see C.K. playing a depressed, middle-aged volunteer police officer trying to live up to the standards set by his mother, a former highly decorated officer of the law. When she passes away, he’s forced to follow the dream he never had: to become a real cop.

"I'm a Cop" will be also be co-produced by "The Social Network" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel" producer Scott Rudin. The project will also include producers Dave Becky and Blair Breard, the latter of whom works on Louis C.K.'s hit FX show "Louie" and many of the comedian’s standup specials.

"Louie" was renewed for an eight-episode fifth season, which premiered on April 9, 2015.
