‘Lucifer’ Season 2: 6 Actresses who could play Luci’s ‘scary’ momma (Review)
Luci's mom should be a force to reckon with in Los Angeles
‘Lucifer’ Season 2 could premiere later this year or early in 2017. Either way, fans would have to wait for several months before they could find out what happens next to heaven’s rebellious son (Tom Ellis) and his brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside). For now, fans are guessing the actress who would play Lucifer’s mother in the next chapter.
Spoiler alert: This update contains “Lucifer” spoilers. Details including some Season 1 finale highlights are included. (Here is a quick recap of the first season finale.)
Lucifer and Amenadiel have come to terms with their differences. This is one of the things that fans could expect in “Lucifer” Season 2. There will be less of “come back to hell” and more of “how can I help you” as they are both facing a serious threat – a big villain’s escape from hell.
‘Lucifer’ Season 2: Who is best to play the role of Luci's mother?
Now which TV or movie actress would get the role of Luci’s mom? As of the Season 1 finale, it was not revealed whether Luci and Amenadiel share the same mother. Regardless, the show bosses could choose a young early 20s or older mid 40s actress to play the role. Age should not be an issue, but assuming Luci’s mother is bad, then she must be vain to the core. One of the most crucial criteria then should be an undeniably strong presence.
If Tom Ellis’ Lucifer is afraid of his mother, this character should be -- at the very least -- as striking and compelling as Ellis even in the most ordinary scenes. She should also look and feel like she could effortlessly scare both Amenadiel and Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt). Her chemisty with Chloe Decker (Lauren German) should also be as fiery-and-nice as Chloe's chemistry with either Amen or Maze. This would be a tough role. Producers already have a great “Lucifer” cast. Any addition should embellish and not mar the already effective ensemble.
The CW’s “Supernatural” currently has Emily Swallow portraying the role of Amara, God’s wicked sister. As good as Swallow is, she would sink in scenes with any one of Luci, Amen and Maze in the Fox show. The actress must be edgier by two or three notches, simply because Ellis’ Lucifer does not look like he could be afraid of anyone -- even Amenadiel thinks so.
Here are just a few of the actresses who could pull off the menacing act while maintaining a gorgeous, watchable appeal: Vera Farmiga (“Bates Motel”), Courteney Cox (“F.R.I.E.N.D.S.”), Gina Torres (“Suits”), Halle Berry (“Catwoman”), Madeleine Stowe ("Revenge") and Alexandra Daddario (“White Collar”).
