“Lucifer” season 4 will not be picking up from the events that happened in the bonus episodes. Executive Producer and Writer Joe Henderson has confirmed that the story will continue from the season 3 finale.

After the #SaveLucifer campaign by the fans, Netflix picked up the show. According to a report by Zimbio, Henderson has confirmed that the story will focus on what happens after Morningstar (Tom Ellis) showed his Devil face to Chloe (Lauren German).

Although Morningstar has always been very open about his real identity, Chloe never believed him during all this time that they were together. The finale episode of season 3 finished with a cliff-hanger, not showing how the detective will react to this big revelation.

The revelation should have a big impact on the Devil and the detective’s love story. However, the Morningstar Chloe relationship isn’t the only one that was left in a cliff-hanger. There is a lot of suspense with all the other major characters as well.

"We left a lot of things dangling," Henderson said. Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) is dead, and her soul was carried into heaven by her friend Amenadiel (D. B. Woodside). It is unclear if these two characters will come back to Earth at some point in the future. If they do come back in the next season there should be a compelling enough reason for their return.

Meanwhile, there is trouble back on Earth. Dan (Kevin Alejandro) blames Morningstar for the death of Charlotte, and Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) is having a crises of faith. Henderson said that they wanted to leave a lot of these questions “in the air” to resolve them in the next season, and they have managed to get that chance thanks to the fans.

Although “Lucifer” season 4 has been confirmed, there is still no word on the exact release date. The show is expected to air next year.
