Luxe womenswear brand Marchesa to debut footwear collection in fall
Marchesa known for its elegant eveningwear and one of its couture designs is all set to launch its shoe collection this fall. The British duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig founders of the brand announced plans to expand the label, a week after they revealed they would be creating a jewellery line with NWH.
The range will include both flat evening shoes along with high heels. The shoes will be crafted from materials like napa, alligator, water snake and python. Swarovski crystals will also be used for embellishing the shoes.
The British duo founded the brand in 2004 and it now has handbags and fragrances in its collection. The launch will take place at Marchesa’s spring collection show on Sept. 16.
“We’ve always envisioned Marchesa as a lifestyle brand and including a full shoe collection is an important part of that vision. Customers and retailers alike have requested we expand into footwear so it’s incredibly exciting to have found a partner who can help us fulfil that goal,” Georgina told WWD .
The duo, who met at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, have collaborated with footwear and handbag licensing company AKH Group for their new shoe collection. The company was founded in March by Annelie Hofstrom and Ashley Kennedy, but it has already added a wealth of clients including Maiyet, Soloviere, Sarah Flint, O Jour by Giorgia Caovilla and Cecelia New York to its portfolio.
The shoes have been designed in keeping with the feminine aesthetic that Marchesa is known for. Keren described the collection as romantic and inspired by a French garden. It includes stemmed flowers, leaves and bird cages.
Every shoe in the collection is crafted beautifully, working in tandem with some of the best shoe factories in Italy and Spain. The AKH Group has been able to understand the requirements of Georgina and Keren, by taking their vision forward in the form of the designs, keeping in mind impeccable quality.
Even before the launch of the collection, the designers were keen to expand their styles in terms of offering variety to customers every season. They also wanted to make something that women could use regularly.
