Jimmy Choo Co-Founder Tamara Mellon Has A New Sparkler, Engaged to Michael Ovitz
Tamara Mellon, co-founder of Jimmy Choo and Hollywood talent agent Michael Ovitz are engaged. The couple who have been dating since four years hasn’t yet released any date for their marriage. Mellon had told Hello U.K. in December that the former Walt Disney Company president asked for her hand in marriage, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mellon stepped down from her role at Jimmy Choo in November 2011 after the brand was taken over by Labelux and two years later launched her own eponymous line. Tamara Mellon is a luxury lifestyle brand offering a full range of apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories. When it was launched in 2013, it had a select group of premiere retail partners in the U.S. and Europe.
The 47-year-old designer has a daughter, Araminta, with her ex-husband Matthew Mellon. Meanwhile, Ovitz is now a private investor and philanthropist and established the Artists Management Group. He has three grown up children with ex-wife Judy Reich, including fashion designer Kimberly Ovitz.
Tamara divorced her former husband Matthew Mellon in 2005 after five years of marriage. She dated Hollywood actor Christian Slater for two years, but they split in 2009. Her ex-husband is now married to Nicole Hanley-Mellon. The couple came up with a new fashion line, Hanley Mellon early this year.
Meanwhile, Mellon has a gorgeous new sparkler. She’s now sporting a huge cushion cut diamond on her left hand that was given by her beau in December 2014. She said that it was last year that Ovitz proposed marriage with the huge mega carat sparkler. But Tamara who is the brain behind reality TV star Kim Kardashian and supermodel Karlie Kloss’s famed legging boots told that before she says “I Do” to her long time beau, she would move with him to New York.
The former Jimmy Choo c-founder has a lot going up her sleeves. She added that the couple are planning to build a home in New York where they have already purchased a house. “It’s a long-term project -- we’re going to knock the whole building down and start again. We’re really excited to have a project to work on together,” the fashion designer, who has dressed a plethora of celebrities, said.
