The man who kidnapped his own baby and former girlfriend has surrendered to the police. The father of the baby who was taken at knifepoint in a Sydney home is now under the custody of the police, preparing to face charges.

Previous police records showed that the 24-year-old kidnapper has been charged with various offences, including taking or detaining a person with the intent to take advantage and taking a child to remove from parental control.

The man is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court on July 31. No bail was granted for his temporary release.

The baby who was taken from his mother and home in Sydney at knifepoint has been turned over to the police a day after the kidnapping.

Baby Zhaiden Mifsurd was handed to the police station in Campbelltown on July 26 before 5 pm by a relative of the kidnapper-father, Steven Hume.

Police said the baby was not harmed in any way. At that time, Mr. Hume continued to evade the authorities and continued to be on the run.

The baby's return followed a 24-hour search in the southwestern outskirts of Sydney after a Toyota Camry allegedly used by the kidnapper as his getaway car was found already abandoned at Bargo's Avon Dam Road.

Police have combed the entire search perimeter when authorities received news that the baby was found. Baby Zhaiden is back in his mother's care.

The baby's mother and former girlfriend of the kidnapper, Casey Mifsud, said the boy's father had forced his way inside their home at Kenthurst Place on Chester Hill where he took out his knife and ordered them to come with him.

The baby and his teenage mother were in the car before stopping at Douglas Park. This was also the location where the kidnapper assaulted Ms. Misfurd and left her the road.
