The super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao in 2015 is far from being realised. But what about a one-on-one basketball game between the elite boxers in this generation? According to Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, his ward is better than the undefeated American boxer.

Roach apparently made the claim on Thursday as posted by Top Rank Promotions’ official Twitter account.

"I don't want to compare myself, but Freddie said me." - @MannyPacquiao on whether he's a better basketball player than @FloydMayweather

Pacquiao and Roach are currently in the Philippines where they are training for the Nov. 22 fight in Macau against another undefeated American in Chris Algieri (20-0-0, 8 KOs).

For his part, Bob Arum emphasised his displeasure of Pacquiao playing basketball roughly a month before the Algieri fight.

“Professional basketball, no matter where the country is that you play, is a rugged sport and a player can turn an ankle very, very easily. These NBA players are fantastic physical specimens and yet they get injured all the time, so an injury would have really wreaked havoc with the fight, so I was not very pleased,” the Top Rank president said via fightnews.com. “But Manny has assured Freddie, Freddie has assured me that that’s it. After he does the fight on November 22, if he wants to try out for the New York Knicks, it’s OK with me.”

With the Pacquiao basketball brouhaha now over, at least temporarily until November, the discussion now shifts to a more important matter; who is better in basketball? Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Below is a collection of some YouTube videos below of both pugilists showing off their basketball skills and the sports fans can decide who will ultimately win in a one-on-one basketball match-up:

If Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao do not want to fight inside the boxing ring maybe they can slug it out inside the basketball court.
