Manny Pacquiao Signs Off On All Points Of The Bout, Floyd Mayweather Not Yet, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum Says
Manny Pacquiao agreed to and signed off on all points regarding the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, but Top Rank CEO Bob Arum says their side is still waiting for Floyd Mayweather's side to deliver. Arum is frustrated the much anticipated fight could lead to nowhere because there is still no sign of Money stepping up to sign off for the bout.
In a recent interview with Brad Cooney, Arum talked about the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight negotiations. According to the Top Rank CEO, they are trying to put the mega fight together and they've already negotiated on all points.
"Pacquiao signed off on everything, and we are ready to rumble," Arum said. "The people representing the other guy have to deliver him [Mayweather], and that's what we are waiting for."
Arum revealed these negotiations are no different from previous deals with Mayweather's team. In fact, he said whenever Team Money negotiates, they claim afterwards there's no negotiation that happened. However, he added that this time, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves has been moving mountains trying to close the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao match.
Arum revealed Pacquiao agreed with the May 2 date, and as far as their side is concerned, they've already completed the deal. But then again, he says Team Money can't make Floyd agree, which has happened several times in the past. He cites as an example that few years ago, Mayweather didn't agree with HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg, and after Pacquiao agreed with drug testing, the undefeated American boxer bailed.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao's coach, Freddie Roach, recently revealed he really thinks the mega fight is close to happening. To Pacquiao, the negotiations between him and Mayweather have never been this successful. The boxing champ told ABS-CBN News how beautiful it is now that they're both talking about the fight considering they never talk about it before. For Pacquiao and his coach, the probability of finally negotiating about something is good enough for now. Things are going positively for both sides.
