Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has taken his 3rd drug test on Wednesday as part of the conditions of his fight with American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. The tests include providing blood and urine samples.

Medics from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, or USADA, showed up at the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles to perform the tests, reports Inquirer. He just finished eight rounds of sparring when the medics arrived for the surprise test.

GMA-7 reports that Pacquiao passed the third test. It was made just after Pacquiao got his boxing licence from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The unannounced check for performance-enhancing drugs could be done any time before a bout. Pacquiao had his first test on March 17.

While both camps have agreed to the drug testing to be conducted by the USADA, Mayweather did not agree with Pacquiao’s proposal for whoever would fail the test to pay a fine of $5million.

Michael Koncz, adviser of Pacquiao, said, “They have made derogatory statements for year about Manny [supposedly using PEDs], and now we challenged them by asking for the $5 million fine, and they refuse it. It’s disheartening.”

In response Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said Pacquiao’s advisers should have placed those specific terms in the contract. He accused Koncz of just seeking publicity, Time reports.

Ellerbe accused Koncz of not reading the contract. But Koncz said that Pacquiao did not insist on the $5 million fine when the contract was being negotiated because he wanted the fight signed and not to disrupt the negotiations.

According to USADA, the blood and urine samples it has taken from both boxers are sent to a World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited laboratory for analysis, following world’s best laboratory practices, including testing for human growth hormone, erythropoietin and carbon isotope ratio.
