Marvel has identified its smartest hero -- and she's only 9 years old
"Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur" issue number 12 is expected to be out on October 26, 2016
The Marvel superhero with the highest IQ has just been announced -- and it is not who anyone might expect. This is considering that Marvel already has a good line up of heroes with high intelligence levels which would include Tony Stark a.k.a Ironman, Reed Richards, who is also known as Mister Fantastic, or Amadeus Cho who is now the Incredible Hulk.
Meet Lunella Lafayette -- the 9-year old black female lead in “The Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,” which is a remake of “Devil Dinosaur.” The original source featured a T-Rex that is transported to modern-day New York City. Lafayette is set to replace the original lead known as Moon Boy and eventually collaborate with the huge dinosaur. Lunella was officially highlighted at the San Diego Comic Con 2016.
What makes Lunella even smarter than the genius, billionaire, playboy, philantrophist Tony Stark, or the astrophysics and chemistry expert Reed Richards, is that she carries an inhuman gene and is a master engineer, says a post in Teen Vogue.
An interview by Buzzfeed with comic book writers Brandon Montclaire or Amy Reeder reveals what is in for the new intelligent and colourful character. They reveal that Lunella will face an impossible half-dozen science challenges that might not only prove her intelligence, but also save the world in the third arc of the comic book. Of course, Marvel will do what it does best by also featuring some of the franchise’s biggest names such as Dr. Strange. The X Men, The Fantastic Four and a lot more.
Marvel has been noted to have been introducing characters of different races and genders, which have not been seen on major roles before. The move to diversify comic heroes a female Thor, a black Captain America and a Korean Incredible Hulk. Reports also say that Ironman would be replaced by a 15-year-old black girl.
Making Lunella Lafayette the most intelligent in a universe full of genetically altered intelligent minds would be a very bold move for Marvel. However, as it has always proven countless times before, it can never go wrong.
“Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” volume 1 came out in November 2015. The series is illustrated by Amy Reeder, Brandon Montclare and Natacha Bustos. Issue number 12 is expected to be out in October 26, 2016.
