‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 3, Episode 17: Daisy Johnson takes charge, Mockingbird missed

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3, Episode 17 (“The Team”) airs on April 19 on ABC. This week’s new episode centers on Daisy Johnson/Skye (Chloe Bennet) and how she leads the Secret Warriors to save the rest of the SHIELD agents against Hive.

Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) could only watch as Hive, the creature inhabiting Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), killed his daughter, Stephanie Malick (Bethany Joy Lenz). This ultimate sacrifice seals their partnership for Hive, but Gideon seems to be having a change of heart.

Hive has taken control of the agents’ main ship. By the end of Episode 16, Hive and Gideon are getting ready to face Coulson (Clark Gregg), May (Ming-Na Wen), Mack (Henry Simmons), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). Will everyone come out of this alive?

Hive is a parasitic Inhuman that inhabits human bodies and retains all the memories of his hosts, including Gideon’s brother and Ward. How would the shockwaves of Daisy Johnson and her Secret Warriors beat Hive? The Agents 3x17 synopsis suggests the team will “question everyone they trust” in this week’s new episode.

Meanwhile, fans of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” are missing Mockingbird a.k.a. Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). They are expected to star in “Marvel’s Most Wanted” even as ABC has yet to officially pick up the series.

In “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3, Episode 17, stakes are high and many lives are in danger. Mockingbird and Hunter would normally be in the thick of the action, but now Daisy and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) have to figure things out and safely rescue their fellow agents.

The question many fans are asking now is: Would Bobbi and Hunter ever be seen with their old SHIELD team again? Palicki is hopeful about such a possibility.

“[T]here’s always the hope of crossovers. It would be a really fun chance to get to work with people again. Marvel is doing a great job of interweaving the whole universe across film and TV,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Joining Boothe as guest stars this week are Juan Pablo Raba as Joey Gutierrez, Natalie Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, Mark Dacascos as Giyera, Gabriel Salvador as Lucio and Rob Silverman as Kevin. "The Team" was written by DJ Boyle and directed by Elodie Keene.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 airs Tuesdays on ABC.
