While viewers had to say goodbye to Ghost Rider in the midseason finale, Jason O’Mara’s Jeffrey Mace was reinvented as Marvel’s Patriot. This looks like there are some sinist er plans about the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director, which the new press release promises will reveal a shocking secret behind The Patriot.
The show will return on January 10, but a new press release for the episode that will air on January 17 gives us a closer look into Jeffrey Mace’s secrets. This will also mark the return of Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot.
Screen Crush says that Mace might not actually be an Inhuman but, instead, some remnant of the Super Soldier Program that made Captain America what he is. In the comics, Mace had been Captain America once or twice, but without the super strength associated with him.
Others note that Mace is actually an Inhuman in the comics. While viewers will think that he will be a helpful ally to Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team, this might not exactly be the case. He has been giving his co-agents headaches as a very dutiful and stern S.H.I.E.L.D. director who plays by the rules. Fans know that this is not Agent Coulson’s style and this might see both of them clash at some point.
On the other hand , he might not be the good guy that everyone thinks he is. Remember that Mace’s first conversation with Agent Coulson actually suggest s that he is hiding something. Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) had been the first from the team to know, aside from Coulson, but she has kept her fin dings a big secret for now. It looks like the hiding will not last for too long.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. It also airs on FOX8 in Australia.
