'Masters of the Universe' reboot casting update: Kellan Lutz in talks to play He-Man
Actor Kellan Lutz reportedly met with studio executives to talk about playing He-Man in the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” reboot. The actor made the announcement online to all the fans of the franchise who are eagerly waiting for the film.
In a post on Twitter, Lutz said that he had an “amazing meeting” with the executives of McG’s production company Wonderland Sound & Vision and its president Mary Viola. Although the actor did not reveal what was the result of the meeting, he teased that the upcoming movie is in “great hands,” HitFix reports.
The actor appears to have deleted the tweet since then. He later tweeted about success and happiness. He also talked about how all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
Playing a shirtless superhero is not something new to Lutz. The actor recently appeared in the lead role in the 2014 movie “The Legend of Hercules.” He played the role of Emmett Cullen in the “Twilight” series, lent his voice to the protagonist in the 2013 movie “Tarzan” and he also appeared in “The Expendables 3.” Will Lutz manage to secure a place in “Masters of the Universe” reboot?
The role of He-Man was previously played by Dolph Lundgren in 1987. Instead of being set in the magical world of Eternia, the plot of the movie was mostly set on Earth. The story revolves around a Cosmic key that allows Skeletor to launch a successful invasion, forcing the heroes to escape to Earth.
It is not clear if the “Masters of the Universe” reboot will be set in Eternia. What may be different in the movie though is the presence of He-Man’s trusted mount and companion Cringer, who transforms into the mighty Battle Cat. Producer DeVon Franklin previously teased a picture of the beast online.
