'Masters of the Universe' Remake: 'Terminator Salvation' director in talks to helm the He-Man movie
McG is reportedly in talks to direct the “Masters of the Universe” remake. No details about the movie have been made public at this time. The President and CEO of Franklin Entertainment had previously teased a picture of Battle Cat online. Battle Cat is He-Man’s mount and a loyal companion.
According to a report by Deadline, McG is currently talking to studio executives and may get to helm the movie. Talks about the movie at Sony Pictures, Escape Artists and Franklin Entertainment is said to be in “high gear” at the moment.
McG had worked with Sony by directing the 2009 “Terminator Salvation” movie. He is also known for helming the “Charlie’s Angels” movie. The director recently finished working on “The Babysitter,” which is currently in the post production phase of development.
Some of the other projects of McG include TV shows like “Kevin from Work” and “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments.” Apart from directing movies and TV shows, McG has also worked as a producer for “The Mysteries of Laura,” “The DUFF,” “Mercy” and “Playing it Cool.”
If the talks succeed, McG will be working on “Masters of the Universe” remake. The original movie was released in 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as the villain Skeletor.
The plot of the 1987 movie revolved around Skeletor taking over the planet Eternia and the heroes travelling to Earth. He-Man and his allies make new friends on Earth and the rest of the movie focused on how they take on the villain together.
It is not clear if the remake will choose a similar plot line or work on something totally different. The 1987 movie had received a lackluster response from the audience at the time.
The President and CEO of Franklin Entertainment, DeVon Franklin, teased a picture on his Twitter account that seemed like the Battle cat from “Masters of the Universe” remake. The picture generated a lot of positive reactions from the fans and got them excited about the movie.
