Men Also Fake Orgasms
About one-third of men fake orgasms and the reason why they act is out of love, kindness and sexual insecurity, said an American urologist who just released a book on male sexual health.
Dr Abraham Morgentaler's book, titled Why Men Fake It: The Totally Unexpected Truth About Men and Sex, is the result of 25 years of years of clinical practice and teaching as professor of urology at Harvard Medical School.
He admitted being surprised the first time he heard of men faking orgasm several years ago from a 25-year-old male patient who was experiencing trouble climaxing while having sex with his girlfriend.
Men with similar experiences eventually turned up in his clinic, including a 27-year-old paraplegic who could not feel anything from the waist down and older men who are suffering from erectile dysfunction and resume dating again after they got divorced or widowed.
"The big surprise to me when I started doing this work 25 years ago is that once a man is in a relationship, men seem to care more about their partners than themselves. Early in my career, I remember a guy walked into my office ... in the waiting room, he looks too cool for school; he thinks he's just the cat's meow. But when he gets in the exam room, he's totally torn apart talking about his girlfriend and how he can't satisfy her because he has premature ejaculation," Salon.com quoted the doctor.
His clinical experience, however, may run counter to what many women suffer from in real life. But Mr Morgentaler insisted that for every man who misbehaves, there are 10 other men who are thoughtful, dedicated and do their best on being a male and a solid partner.
However, another study by the University of Kansas found that women had a higher rate of faking orgasms at 70 per cent, versus only 30 per cent among men.
"The emphasis on men's ability to give their partners 'earth-shaking orgasms' sometimes leads both women and men to pretend orgasm to meet these expectations," the University of Kansas study explained.
When asked how do men fake orgasm when the semen is the best evidence if he came or not, Mr Morgentaler advised those interested to find out to buy the book instead.
"Would it be terrible of me if I left that as a tease for your reader to actually get into the book? It feels like giving away the ending of a whodunit," he said.
