A recent report estimated the net worth of the richest people from Formula One, or F1. Retired seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has topped the list with net worth of $780 million. Among those F1 drivers who made it on the richest list are still actively participating in the sport.

Schumacher, retired from F1 racing in 2012, is currently recuperating from the traumatic brain injuries that he sustained following a catastrophic crash at a skiing resort in December. The German ace is undergoing rehabilitation treatment at his mansion in Lake Geneva, Switzerland.

Despite losing a couple of endorsement deals after the accident, he remains F1’s richest driver.

Schumacher has reportedly a net worth of $780 million, according to global research and marketing firm Wealth-X. Schumacher’s net worth is approximately 43 percent of the collective earnings of all the 10 F1 drivers who were included in the list.

Other retired F1 drivers on the list are Eddie Irvine, who came in at the fourth spot net worth of $180 million, as well as Alan Prost (seventh place) and David Coulthard (eighth place), who have $70 million apiece.

Second on the list is newly McLaren-Honda driver Fernando Alonso. The 33-year-old Spaniard has a net worth of $220 million. In 2014, Forbes has listed Alonso as the 21st highest paid athlete with total earnings of $30 million, of which $2 million came from sponsorships. When Alonso left Ferrari last year, it has been presumed that his contract with McLaren-Honda is worth $40 million a year. Just lately, Alonso has been named as F1's most marketable athlete.

Alonso skipped the first race of the season after he crashed his car during the final day of the third pre-season testing in Barcelona. He is expected to return to the track at the 2015 Malaysian Grand Prix if he passed the medical test and gets a green light from F1’s governing body. Alonso’s McLaren teammate Jenson Button is at the sixth place with $100 million.

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg of Mercedes came in at fifth and 10th places, with $110 million and $30 million, respectively. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen is at the third spot with $180 million, while his new co-driver Sebastian Vettel took the ninth spot with $45 million net worth.
